This past week has been a LONG one to say the least. I am finally getting over
pneumonia, but Sunday morning we woke to a scare. Hannah had a seizure at about 9 a.m. Jason and Parker found her on her bed. She was shaking and foam was coming out of her mouth. I called 911 and of course I was not calm, I was the exact opposite, hysterical. We carried her downstairs to the front room, so the paramedics could get to her quicker. When we got downstairs, she turned completely purple and bit down on her tongue and stopped breathing. This is when Jason had to talk to the 911 operator, because I lost it.
Jas had to shove his finger in her mouth to open her lock jaw and when he finally did, she threw up all this saliva/foam and finally started breathing again. The seizure stopped after two minutes, but her eyes were still rolled back in her head and she was twitching and making this moaning sound for another 3-5 minutes. The paramedics finally arrived and they rushed her to Utah Valley Hospital. When we arrived, she was coming to and hysterically screaming (she cried for 1 hour straight) they tried six times to get an IV into her. When she finally calmed down, she was completely unaware of where she was and who any of us were. At this point, I was panicking because she kept asking for me and I was holding her and she didn't even know who I was. She finally calmed down and slept for a while and after three hours she finally started acting like herself again. She was still shaky and couldn't talk very well, but after a bit, she was back to her normal
feisty, silly self. They came to the conclusion that she spiked a really high fever sometime in the morning and then had a seizure. The crazy thing is that she barely had a cold and I honestly didn't think she was sick, but I guess I was wrong. The doctor said that fever seizures are common with children and they usually grow out of them when they are around five.
Hannah went in for a follow up checkup this afternoon and everything looks good. We just have to watch her close and make sure if she does get any kind of fever, keep her on
Tylenol and ibuprofen all the time. She was so brave at the hospital. She kept showing everyone her
owies and her
band aids and the new "big cat" they gave her. She told me today, that she doesn't ever want to go to the doctors and she doesn't like shots. I don't blame her.
We are so happy that she is doing well and back to being our little spunky Hanny. It makes you realize how grateful you are for your little ones. I couldn't stop holding her last night and telling her and Parker how much I loved them. This was very traumatic for Parker as well and he was so brave through it all. I am just thankful everything turned out well and she is doing better, now we just need to pray and keep our fingers crossed that nothing like this happens again, because I don't think our hearts could handle it.

Hanny with her orange "Francis" cat and her new "big cat" the nurses gave her. She kept calling her IV the big red
owie.

Here she is showing everyone her bugs bunny
band aid on her finger.
The Spanish Fork Paramedics were wonderful and so caring. They each hugged me when they left the hospital. All the nurses and doctors at Utah Valley were great too, we were in good hands and for that we were and are very thankful.
p.s. Thanks Aunt
Linny for always having your camera and taking these pics of Hanny.
